Why choose us

The diagnostic comes before the decision, every time

Plenty of shops can tighten a brake or oil a chain. What shapes the experience at Yecafe Nemedu is the order of operations: look first, explain clearly, then repair. Below is a plain description of what that means for daily commuters and weekend riders alike.

A diagnostic check that actually means something

A free diagnostic check is not a five-second glance at the tires. It typically covers brake pad wear and lever feel, cable and housing condition, drivetrain wear, wheel trueness and spoke tension, headset play, and any obvious frame or fork concerns. The result is a written or verbal summary, not a vague "it needs work."

Riders decide what to approve afterward. There's no expectation to move forward with repairs based on the check alone, and no charge for the look itself.

Two riders, two different needs

A commuter bike lives outside in weather, gets locked to racks, and covers similar streets day after day. Wear shows up in cables, chains, and brake pads faster than most riders expect. A recreational bike, ridden less often but sometimes harder, tends to show wear in different places: bearings, suspension seals, tire sidewalls sitting unused between rides.

Recognizing which category a bike falls into, and sometimes it's a bit of both, shapes how the diagnostic is read and which adjustments get prioritized first.

The approach in practice

A few things riders notice

Plain explanations

Technical findings get translated into everyday language before any decision is asked of the rider.

Scoped, not padded, work orders

Repairs are limited to what the diagnostic actually surfaces, rather than a standard checklist applied to every bike.

Respect for older bikes

Older commuter frames and hand-me-down bicycles are treated as worth repairing, not automatically replaced.

Space for questions

Riders are welcome to ask why a part is worn or how to slow future wear, during drop-off or pickup.
